the people who work at Apple should own Apple. The people who work at Amazon should own Amazon. We are anti- trillionaires and exploitation, not phones lololol
As we wrap up #CoopMonth, we celebrate our 7th principle: While focusing on member needs, cooperatives work for the sustainable development of their communities through policies accepted by their members. #LPEA is proud to be your local co-op. #PowerOn

More than 75 people came out to the ARC in Ward 8 on Saturday 10/26 for #DCcoopDay 2019! We not only discussed the long and radical history of cooperative organizing in DC, but we also did a deep dive on how to start and finance worker-owned, housing and food cooperatives.
DC Co-op Day builds on decades of cooperative organizing in DC. From Nannie Helen Burroughs to Cornbread Givens to Linda Leaks, we have such a long and beautiful tradition. In addition to workshops we offered 1-on-1 cooperative development and legal technical assistance to cooperatives at various stages from startup to established.
DC Co-op Day was organized by the DC Cooperative Stakeholders Group with generous support from the Washington Area Community Investment Fund (wacifdmv) and the 11th Street Bridge Park Project (dcbridgepark). Many thanks to Vaughn Perry for helping us to secure free space at The ARC. Many thanks to all of the volunteers who organized this event, the presenters who donated their time and expertise, and the attendees for taking time out of their weekend to build the next economy.
